Matthew Collings: This is Modern Art

(Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, Pablo Picasso)

Have been obsessed with these Matthew Collings videos ever since local artist J. Rebecca Trueblood posted them to the Boston Area Artists Facebook group.

I have been stealing 10 minutes here and there.  Collings takes a straight forward approach to Modern Art, and provides interesting insight on the movement.  His series not only discusses pivotal pieces, but delves into the lives of some of Modern Art’s most influential players such as Picasso, Warhol, and Pollock.

..All of whom were extremely troubled which makes for an interesting listen.

(Red Car Crash, from Andy Warhol’s ‘Death and Disaster’ series)

Now, I need to tackle Collings’ Impressionism: Revenge of the Nice series.  It’s in 10 parts.

I’ve listened to 3 already and the day is young. ♥
